Staff Technical Account Manager

About Us

Gambit is the AI-native resilience platform that ensures digital continuity never expires. It unifies governance across cloud, backups, security tools, and IaC, mapping applications, identifying gaps, and validating recovery paths in real time. Gambit turns resilience assumptions into business certainty before an incident ever occurs.

The Opportunity

As a Staff Technical Account Manager, you own our most strategic and technically complex accounts: a deliberately small book, carried deep. You run each relationship from kickoff through renewal and are the person a customer's security and infrastructure leadership calls first.

You also set the standard for the function. You build the playbooks, templates, and analyses the rest of the team runs on, act as the technical backstop other TAMs escalate to, and are expected to see what the function is missing and go build it. You do not carry a quota; you carry retention, adoption, posture improvement, and the trust of the accounts you own.

About the Role

  • Onboarding. Define success criteria in writing, drive the implementation plan, and validate business application mapping, criticality tiering, and RTO and RPO targets with the customer.
  • Posture advisory. Turn Balens findings into remediation plans tied to business impact, engineering effort, cloud cost, and risk retired; advise on backup policy and clean recovery paths; and facilitate recovery readiness and tabletop exercises.
  • Compliance evidence. Build control-level evidence packages across DORA, NIS2, SOX, SOC 1, SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST CSF 2.0, and NIST 800-53 Rev 5.
  • Executive reporting. Own the quarterly business review, and produce posture assessments, peer benchmarks, and cost-of-remediation analyses for a CISO audience, verified against real data.
  • Escalations and growth. Own escalations end to end, including during the customer's own incidents; maintain a risk register and renewal readiness assessment; and support commercial conversations as the technical trusted advisor.
  • Build the function. Create the playbooks, templates, and reusable analyses the team operates on, mentor other TAMs, and represent customers to Product and R&D with ranked, evidence-backed demand.

Requirement

  •  10+ years in technical account management, customer success engineering, technical consulting, solutions architecture, or post-sale technical delivery, with at least 4 years owning enterprise or strategic accounts directly.
  • Expert-level depth in at least one major cloud and working fluency in a second, with a track record of designing or validating recovery for business-critical applications across hybrid, multi-cloud enterprise estates, including leading real recovery tests, not just reviewing them.
  • Direct experience taking a regulated enterprise customer through an audit or regulatory assessment, producing control-level evidence that held up in front of auditors or regulators under at least one of DORA, NIS2, SOX, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or NIST, and the ability to read and critique infrastructure as code to find the source of drift.
  • Self-sufficient with data: you query APIs, work in JSON and GraphQL, build analyses in notebooks, and use agentic AI tooling or MCP-based integrations to produce customer-facing analysis without engineering support.
  • A measurable record of retention and expansion on strategic, high-revenue accounts, including turning around at least one at-risk enterprise account, and the ability to walk through it with numbers.
  • Trusted in front of a CISO, a board-level audience, and an auditor without preparation from leadership, with executive deliverables you personally built that drove a customer decision.
  • Built playbooks, templates, or programs adopted across a team or function, served as the escalation backstop for other account managers, and represented the customer function in cross-functional forums with Product, Engineering, and Sales leadership.
  • Supported a customer through a live ransomware event, major outage, or real recovery.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience, and openness to up to 25% travel for customer and industry events.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience at a cyber resilience, backup and recovery, data protection, CSPM, or observability vendor, or with platforms such as Veeam, Rubrik, Cohesity, or Commvault
  • Prior hands-on experience as a cloud, infrastructure, SRE, or security engineer
